Happiness is our nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside - Ramana Maharshi

Q & A: Searching for Siddha Shaktipat Guru, I have doubts about Guru

I am in search of ABLE Guru who can give me Shakti pat Deeksha. As you provided a link in pervious reply - Siddha Shaktipat Guru. I went through that, but still in doubt about ABLE Guru. Do you know anyone from Pune (or in India) Who is serious Sadhak of Maha Yoga (Sahaj yoga). I am also in confusion between Kriya Yoga (by Shamchurn Lahri Mahashay) and Siddha Yoga. Can you please clear this for me? It will be very helpful for me to progress.

Janhavi (Name changed), India

Here are my thoughts

No one in the world can identify if someone is able Siddha Shaktipat Guru or not. Only one able Guru can identify the other. Even if Guru or God comes before you, you will not be able to identify them. It is just not possible. This is the effect of Maya (grand illusion of mind). It is beyond human abilities to realize an able Siddha Shaktipat Guru. In my view, you should NOT do Siddha Yoga or take Shaktipat Deeksha if you have doubts in your mind. Your doubts will make you leave the path very soon even if you start it. This page may help too Siddha Gurus

Kundalini Yoga is also known by the names: Siddha Yoga, Sahaj Yoga, Shaktipat Yoga, Maha Yoga, Shakti Yoga or Kriya Yoga. They are all the same.

What you can do is read lot of Santa-Charitra (biographies of various saints). They will be your guide in the future. Guru will come in your life when you are ready for that. Till that time Japa, reading and Seva (and some meditation) will work best for you and your spiritual progress.

Swami Sivananda says "Place your foot, step by step, very cautiously, on the different rungs of the ladder of yoga. Ascend very gradually to the summit. Be earnest in your Sadhana (practice). Equip yourself with the necessary qualifications. Do not waste your time in search of a preceptor. When you are ready, you will enter the halls of wisdom. And there, waiting on the threshold, you will find your preceptor."

Yoga is an exact science. It aims at the harmonious development of body, mind and soul. Everyone should follow one Yoga as their primary Yoga (based on their character). Then we must combine Karma Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Gyan Yoga. This “Yoga Synthesis” will lead one to the God.
