Happiness is our nature. It is not wrong to desire it. What is wrong is seeking it outside when it is inside - Ramana Maharshi
Q & A: Can Kundalini awake itself without practice of Yoga, meditation?

Can the energy of Kundalini awake itself if one doesn’t do practice any Yoga, meditation, or anything else? If it can, then for what reason?

Audra (Name changed), Lithuania (Europe)

Though it is rare, Yes, Kundalini can awake on its own, even if one doesn’t practice any Yoga, meditation, or anything else (apparently).

The only reason Kundalini will awaken without initiation (Shaktipat) or any spiritual efforts is if the individual has done certain spiritual efforts and progress in their previous life. In the world of divinity, everyone starts from where they left in previous life (or current one). If someone has done spiritual efforts to certain level in one life and if they lose the track of that progress and if that life ends, that individual WILL start from the same level (in the new life) they have attained in the earlier life. It is like changing the schools in case of education. The student will not lose credits once they achieve it, the credits will be transferred to new school where they move. If student changes the school in summer after 6th grade, he will start be in the 7th grade in the new school. Technically, why should it be different in the divine world? Spiritual credits must get carried forward and they do.

It is also important to note, if the Kundalini awakens (without individual’s direct efforts), the individual should start daily meditation. If they don’t, the Kriyas (Pranic movements) may happen in public life where the material life can be embarrassing and painful for the individual without their knowledge of spirituality. Such a phase can be extremely painful. At the same time they will receive appropriate divine guidance when there is a need for it. But if person ignores the divine guidance then life can become miserable, especially if Kundalini shows Kriyas in their material world.

Here is one example of Kundalini self-awakening

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Yoga is an exact science. It aims at the harmonious development of body, mind and soul. Everyone should follow one Yoga as their primary Yoga (based on their character). Then we must combine Karma Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Gyan Yoga. This “Yoga Synthesis” will lead one to the God.
